Tanzania
The Land of Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar:
Basking
south of the Equator over an area half the size
of Western Europe, Tanzania is a country of boundless
fascination and diversity. From the vast lakes
of the interior to the blue waters of the Indian
Ocean,
and from the northern mountains to the southern Ruvuma River the country is a mosaic
of tropical forest savannah grassland and shimmering
lakes containing some of the largest and most
beautiful wilderness areas in the world.
The
interior of Tanzania form part of the vast highland
extending from South Africa to Ethiopia
(High Africa)
which is split by one of the world's most remarkable
geographical features: the great Rift Valley.
Tanzania in fact has 19,982square miles of inland
water - more than any other African country. Lake
Tanganyika which runs along western border, is
Africa's deepest and longest fresh water lake,
and the second deepest in the world. In the north
west, the fresh water Lake Victoria the second
largest in the world, lies in a huge shallow depression.
Three great rivers, the Nile, Congo and Zambezi
are fed by the Tanzanian watersheds.
It
is through this varied setting that the last of
the great herds of wild animals roam; and there
I (Anicet Philip) was born some 32 years ago in
one of its Village south of Kilimanjaro region
buffering the "Nyika" known as Msitu
wa Tembo (Elephant's forest) this is between Kiteto (now Simanjiro)
district and Hai district; It is one of untouched
Nyika; the area extend far west in to Tarangire National Park.
Living
in area like this I started falling in love with
nature by the time I was 5 year old!; I learned
different types of medicinal plants and their
uses, Birds, all by local names. We used many
plants like
Solanum
inconum
(Sodom apple)
Terminalia species
(cluster-leaf trees)
is also used in many ways.
After
such an early introduction to the Nature Profession
it was inevitable that I would pursue a career
in tourism.
My dream came true in 1997 by the help of Ugandan
couple Mr.&Mrs. Nyabongo
who paid for me to join the college of Tourism.
After my Education I joined Conservation
Corporation Africa-Company
http://www.ccafrica.com
based in Ngorongoro crater whereby I gained a
great deal of knowledge in wildlife through self
study and short training courses conducted by
the company. Whilst working with Conservation
Corporation Africa, I had a dream to be one of
the best Safari guide and Ambassador to this wonderful
nature country of Tanzania!;
The
outstanding knowledge of the tourism sector
and a vast experience as a Safari guide
with the already established contacts have ultimately
encouraged me to establish and operate my own
Tour Company in Tanzania.
